TECHNICAL ADVISOR, DUAL ROLE – MECHANICAL and CERTIFIED MACHINE SAFETY SPECIALIST
The preferred candidate will be able to function in a dual role as explained below.
A licensed Professional Engineer with proven track record of managing multiple mechanical design efforts from conceptual design through construction support for Chemical and Biofuel clients. In-depth knowledge of mechanical equipment normally found in the chemical industry noted below along with industry codes is mandatory.
As a certified Machine Safety specialist, function as the overall technical lead while developing a core team to conduct Machine Risk Assessments in accordance with ANSI B11.0 and other industry standards while developing the strategic execution strategy for this design service for our clients worldwide. CMSE and / or LMSS certifications are required.
The selected candidate will be expected to function in a dual role during the initial stages of establishing the Machine Risk Assessment team.
These roles are expected to function in a hybrid work environment and must have the ability to travel to client sites to perform the machine risk assessments.
RESPONSIBILITES – GENERAL MECHANICAL ROLE
This role is anticipated during the initial stages of establishing the Machine Risk Assessment team and business model and for the right candidate could either be a permanent dual role or transition to a full-time single role as well.
Early project planning and coordination while handling two to three small to mid-cap sized projects with ability to quickly provide engineering work hour estimates and risk memos.
Develop and manage the preparation, review and checking of mechanical specification packages in accordance with Client requirements and industry best practices.
Manage and successfully influence the entire procurement life cycle while working closely with all disciplines.
Managing development of complex multi-discipline Construction packages including diagrams, drawings, equipment schedules, details, and Scopes of Work.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner.
Track Project Scope and Schedule and notify project manager of deviation from original design, budget, or schedule.
RESPONSIBILITES – CERTIFIED MACHINE SAFETY SPECIALIST ROLE
Develop multi-discipline execution strategy for executing Machine Risk Assessments.
Actively engage key clients while extending our already successful collaborative relationships into this new specialty design services arena.
Take the lead and build a high performing core team and train/mentor early-to-mid career engineers in machine safety.
Develop and manage machine safety risk program for office and clients worldwide.
Act as subject matter expert for KBR worldwide.
Track Machine Risk Assessment program with use of dashboards to inform office leadership and clients overall health of program.
Take lead on other related strategic initiatives for the Mechanical department when requested.
REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Bachelors’ in Mechanical Engineering or another related field.
10+ years (minimum) of experience in EPC industry. Will consider experience with chemical site team or project engineering backgrounds in related industries. Operations or Maintenance and Reliability experience is a plus.
Professional Engineering License (P.E.) is mandatory.
Certification in Machine Safety from accredited certification organizations offering CMSS or LMSS certifications.
Working Experience with any of the following core areas:
Stationary equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, cooling towers.
Material handling systems.
Rotating machinery such as pumps, compressors and liquid ring vacuum pump systems.
Large complex packaged equipment systems.
Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines and the ability to coordinate with them to meet design requirements.
Ability to travel as needed to survey client sites.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel to client sites will comply with all KBR and Client Safety Rules, Processes and Procedures
Work at client sites may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots
Work at client sites may require moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas, ascending/descending stairs, walking the client property
This may include climbing ladders, lifting to up to 35 lbs, etc
