Job Description

The Software Engineer is responsible for building and supporting high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design. This role covers new software solutions development to meet business requirements, as well as improving, and providing technical support for current systems. This role will involve working closely with other software developers, as well as business stakeholders where necessary, to ensure that solutions are effective and fit for purpose.

Job Duties

Software Development

Determine and assess the needs of the user and design, develop, and test software solutions that meet those needs.

Design, code and debug applications in various software languages.

Create documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments that illustrate the type of code needed.

Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.

Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance.

Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.

Improvements and Upgrades

Investigate problem areas within software solutions.

Monitor performance of the software and tune or make improvements for enhanced usability.

Recommend upgrades for existing systems and programs.

Provide insight into development and service issues by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing necessary information.

Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology (and related experience preferred).

Minimum 3-5 years of software engineering or software development experience, preferably in a related field.

PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS:

Hands-on programming experience using relevant languages.

Experience using relevant software engineering tools.

Familiarity with software development methodology and release processes.

Demonstrable technical skills.
