This job is in the University of Missouri’s Surgery Department, NOT in MU Health Care. The Department of Surgery MU Surgical Center for Outcomes Research and Effectiveness (MUSCORE) office is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of a Research Specialist. The primary function of this position is to provide both technical and administrative clinical research support for the MUSCORE team. This position is required to know and adhere to FDA, Good Clinical Practice, ICH, state, and local regulations while conducting human trials. Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and amendments for clinical research protocols under the guidance of supervisor. Prepare, maintain, and submit clinical trial regulatory documents to grant funding agencies and commercial study sponsors per federal, state and local regulations. Assist in preparing for research monitor visits. Assist with implementing and maintaining an electronic clinical trial database for the purposes of tracking clinical trial protocols and subject participants. Collaborate with principal investigator, study coordinators, and department manager to ensure human subject protection and study protocol activities meet Good Clinical Practice (GCP) In-depth knowledge and experience with coordination of multiple human trials is a must for this position. Must be able to communicate in both written and verbal styles with multi-disciplinary clinical research team members. Position requires self-motivation and team work with the MUSCORE investigators, study coordinators, and research staff. Other duties as assigned.
