Chemours is seeking an R&D Analytical Scientist to join our growing Chemours Leveraged Analytical team! This position will report directly to the Analytical Technology Manager at our Newark, DE, location.
The Chemours Leveraged Analytical team is seeking to engage an R&D Analytical Scientist with experience in Chromatographic Techniques to support Materials Characterization programs focused on fluoropolymer performance, morphology, and physical properties. This opportunity is at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, DE. The leveraged analytical team is homed in the Technology organization of the Advanced Performance Materials platform, and we support all Chemours business units. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to analytical programs focused on the use of separation science to elucidate the relationships between molecular weight distribution and end-use performance. A scientist in this position will also be expected to drive strategic decisions in this area of work and communicate effectively with both analytical colleagues and Chemours leadership. The successful candidate will report to the Technology Manager of the Leveraged Analytical organization.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead novel method development activities related to fluoropolymer characterization
Perform hands-on analyses using these designed-for-purpose analytical methods
Develop internal collaborations to address business critical needs
Author detailed scientific reports to document intellectual property advantages gained through the application of analytical technologies
Interpret results and recommend business directions based on analytical data
Act as a technical resource for the leveraged analytical team
The following is required for this role:
Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or a related discipline (equivalent experience and other degrees will be considered for outstanding candidates)
Demonstrated experience with chromatographic methods
The following is preferred for this role:
Experience in the characterization of fluoropolymers
Experience in molecular weight characterization of polymers
