Description :
RK&K is hiring multiple lead rail-car inspectors and technicians to join our team in the Washington DC metro area. The rail-car inspectors will lead inspection efforts for a 700mHz radio installation program across a fleet of rail-cars and throughout our transit department. This position requires experience inspecting and/or installing radio hardware/software in rail cars or related transit vehicles. Project Management experience is a bonus!
Essential Functions
Lead and work alongside a team of rail-car inspectors and technicians in support of a large radio hardware and software upgrade and install program
Plan schedule activities, allocate resources, and coordinate field subcontractor and internal support resources
Conduct project status reporting and ensure quality reviews are complete
Mentor less experienced staff – lead by doing
Ensure quality control and safety while coordinating with subcontractors and internal support staff
Attend design, survey and production meetings
Work directly with the owner, designer, project managers and contractors
Required Education, Skills and Experience
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience inspecting rail-cars or similar mass transit vehicles
Experience inspecting radio installing 700 mHz radios and communications hardware/software is preferred
Experience within the Transportation industry (major urban commuter heavy and/or light rail systems a plus) – Amtrak, WMATA, CSX, SEPTA, MTA etc.
Ability to work nights and weekends
Must have reliable transportation
May be required to travel out-of-state to conduct manufacturer inspections
Must be able to work in confined spaces
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
