Job Description:
The Materials Evaluation Laboratory (MEL) is in the process of Decontamination and Demolition of the radiological hot cells used to develop the Navy’s first nuclear reactors. These facilities were built in the 1950’s and need to be remediated to eliminate hazards to the workforce, to safeguard the local community, and to close the R&D cycle for the Navy. Proper and final disposition of all materials within, and including the facility itself, is a significant undertaking. The work is detail oriented and accuracy is paramount; however, D&D is a dynamic process which often necessitates flexibility. We must be able to respond to continuously evolving conditions, while maintaining focus on the mission. The end state is known, but the methods and processes needed to get there still need to be developed. This position will be responsible for procurement of materials and equipment, project planning and scheduling, resource management, budgeting and cost control, coordination and integration of project team efforts, and risk mitigation. The successful candidate will have opportunities for leadership development and will be required to communicate with multiple organizations and personnel at all levels. There is potential to expand and develop the scope of responsibilities for this position. In the MEL, we work for each other. Job Requirements:
Intermediate:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience
Advanced:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience
