JOB TITLE: REGIONAL TRAINER
POSITION: Full-Time
JOB OVERVIEW:
Regional Trainer serves as the front-line supervisor of the regional Team Leads and provides leadership, training, and management to team members. Reports directly to K2 Chief Trainer for day-to-day operations and to Regional Security Manager for customer service and performance related topics. Directly and primarily responsible for scheduling and coordinating Red Team Exercises and recertification for K2 Handlers with Team Leads, Project Managers, and Canine Operations Manager. Directly and primarily responsible for enforcing training records and deployment records compliance as directed by K2’s QA/QC Manager. Directly and primarily responsible for annual evaluations of assigned Team Leaders. This position will be required to travel to meet the above responsibilities as well as to attend Trade shows, demos, business development and marketing opportunities as needed and to attend meetings at K2’s Canine Training Center in North Carolina, as needed.
Skills: The ability to manage Team Leads across diverse regional environments. Proven experience developing and cultivating relationships with current and future clients. Experience working with Microsoft Office products. Established experience partnering with internal and external customers to further business development objectives. Demonstrated ability to execute on deliverables, provide a high level of customer service, and have impeccable integrity and professionalism. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be certified in TSA Third-Party Canine and IPWDA Single Purpose and Person Borne Detection and proficient at all. Demonstrated proficiency in Problem Solving Handler and Canine Training issues. Demonstrated proficiency in use of E-collar training. Demonstrated proficiency in safe handling, transportation, storage and use of Canine Explosives Training Aids (CETA). Previous supervisory experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and cultivate customer relations through consistent and timely communication.
Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring delivery of exemplary Canine services.
Advise and assist customer in the effective and efficient employment of assigned Canine Teams.
Stay well-informed of industry trends.
Establish, develop, and maintain employee relations through consistent and timely communication.
Responsible for ensuring handlers adhere to and abide by K2’s Handler Performance Expectations and SOPs, with regard to the use of approved canine equipment, uniform, appearance, conduct, cell phone use, etc.
Must become CDL and DOT certified to transport explosives.
Mentor and develop Team Leads within assigned region.
Maximize employee retention by ensuring open communications, prompt responses to concerns, proper training and support of team leaders and site personnel, providing appropriate mentorship and guidance, ensuring opportunities for advancement, and maintaining a culture of mutual respect.
Responsible for planning and conducting challenging and realistic group training exercises. Provide direction to each regional Team Lead and providing monthly feedback to the Project Manager and Compliance Manager on the readiness status of team for scheduling purposes.
Ensure employees at all levels are trained in accordance with K2 Standards, contract requirements, and licensing authority.
Guarantee employees at all levels maintain and renew active related licenses in accordance with policy.
Address disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy and procedures. Must work with HR to provide prompt notification of complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, or unfair labor practices.
Directs the work activities of assigned employees and conducts/approves annual evaluations of assigned staff.
Responsible for tracking team members IPWDA certification dates and any site-specific badging requirements. The Regional Trainer shall be notified of any team member within 120, 90, and 30 days of expiration of any required certifications or badging requirements.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required.
A minimum of 5 years as a Working Dog Trainer
A minimum of at least 10 years of experience handling working dogs for commercial, government or military organizations or equivalent counter terrorism experience is preferred.
A minimum 2-year experience as a Team Leader
