Overview of Position The Director, Revenue Cycle Operations is responsible through the effective management of resources and priorities, for the strategic oversight of the billing operations in attaining ongoing client metric, production, financial, compliance and other corporate goals ensuring that clients are provided with the highest degree of revenue cycle management services available in the industry. The Director, Revenue Cycle Operations is responsible for business development and overseeing the full implementation process for new clients. This role is also responsible for effective and efficient leadership of all aspects of the revenue cycle management team of 200 domestic employees, as well as over 300 off-shore positions with multiple vendors. The Director, Revenue Cycle Operations is accountable for multiple billing systems and clients in a multi-specialty environment to include oversight of ~$20m in client revenue, with anticipated 5 – 10% year over year growth.
Location: Remote/Telecommuter role (New York preferred)
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Directs a team of leaders and vendors managing all revenue cycle operations across multiple billing systems and clients to attain ongoing client metric, production, financial, compliance and other office/corporate goals. Ensures consistent standards and business metrics across all business units, as well as adherence to all aspects of billing compliance regulations and policies.
Creates, develops and maintains appropriate infrastructure to support and position the office for continued growth. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external support teams including: Finance, HR, Compliance, Business Development, Off-Shore Development, Information Technology, Process Improvement, etc.
Directs, coordinates, and evaluates the performance of all office functional areas, and initiates all corrective actions to improve performance deliverables and/or resolve issues as they arise. Proactively initiates process & system improvements for the ongoing enhancement of service performance. Oversees off-shore vendor relationships as needed to successfully manage the operation.
Manages the various financial components of the business unit: prepares revenue and expense budgets; addresses variances & updates forecasts throughout the FY; manages ongoing P&L statements, expense ledgers, etc; coordinates & approves the staffing requisition process; familiar with and uses all financial tools available.
Ensures appropriate, timely and accurate information is available for all clients and BPS management to ensure metrics are being met or exceeded to ensure client retention. Has expertise regarding clients and their specific needs and requirements; builds and maintains strong relationships with key client operational leaders. Interacts with clients and client management team to ensure client’s goals are achieved and/or issues are being timely and appropriately addressed ultimately resulting in high customer satisfaction and retention.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Minimum of 12+ years physician RCM operations experience managing large multi-specialty revenue cycle management teams
Strong people management experience – must have managed teams of at least 100-150+ (Off-Shore management experience preferred)
Experience with different Electronic Medical Record systems and different billing platforms (like EPIC or Cerner)
Strong experience with the MS Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical skills are required. Must be proficient in running both canned reports and creating custom reports and analyzing the data from those reports to improve RCM results
Strong client management experience is required
Experience working cross functionally within a large, complex organization
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Experience managing a P&L is strongly preferred
Experience with Epic Revenue Cycle Management Systems is preferred
Knowledge of lean operating/process improvement principles

How much should I expect to travel?
Candidates that live outside of New York, can expect overnight travel of approximately 15-20% to client sites. Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement.
