Located in Coastal Delaware, SoDel Concepts creates beautiful, simple food in clean, welcoming environments for guests to savor fresh fish and chef-driven specials daily as well as year round events in our Ballroom and other event spaces. We offer the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise and work as part of a team in an exceptional restaurant! The Banquet Captain is responsible for managing the execution of onsite events and works directly with clients, sales team, operations staff and vendors to execute events. The Banquet Operations Manager also manages the service staff and coordinates back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) service during events. This position reports directly to the Banquet Manager or Event Coordinator running the event.
Manage the execution of onsite catering and banquet events including but not limited to coordinating BOH and FOH service during event; managing banquet teams; and working directly with clients, catering sales team, operations staff and vendors
Comprehend and execute specific banquet instructions and timeline including but not limited to menus, checklists, online banquet event order (BEO), contracts, room diagrams and respond quickly to changing priorities as well as expedite any contract changes as communicated from catering sales team
Ensure all event setups / breakdowns are performed in a timely manner including but not limited to managing the vendor load in/load out, coordinating setup, supervising the banquet team and delegating responsibilities, and participating in setup/breakdown as necessary
Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, clients, guests and vendors
Work a variety of days and shifts, including nights and weekends
Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools, utensils, equipment and software (POS, etc.)
Multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
Stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
Occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
