RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview:
The Associate Director of CBI Self Care Franchise will have a dual role within the Franchise team. She/He will drive consumer and market understanding for the Future of Self Care Team and have responsibility to support initiatives for the Allergy Franchise globally.
As a member of the Future of Self Care team she/he will be involved in and responsible for developing, testing and scaling new solutions that will take the current Self Care business ‘beyond the pill’ into devices, tech-enables ecosystems and new business models to better serve the needs of today’s consumer and patients and position Johnson & Johnson for continued leadership in the ever-changing Self Care category. He/She will play an instrumental role in exploring, identifying and charting the course for how and where J&J should expand beyond the current Core Needs states into new categories that will allow us to deliver on evolving consumer needs for greater growth. This team has a relentless external focus charged with bringing the ‘outside in’ so that J&J is well positioned for continued leadership in Self Care.
In support of the Allergy Franchise, She/He is responsible for all aspects of the market research and including consumer, eCommerce and professional support of the Allergy Self Care business. She/he also works with the Analytics team to leverage advanced analytics and drive business where globally applicable. She/he leads the translation of learnings into actionable recommendations that drive strategy and Innovation that drives business growth. She/he demonstrates excellent communication and partners collaboratively with business teams to drive these initiatives into action. This role covers quantitative and qualitative research that feed into the development of deep human insights to support, strategy, strategic plans, Integrated Marketing Communications.
Specifics:
This role influences the vision for both the Future of Self Care and the Global Allergy Franchise teams. For both businesses, influences Global Innovation strategies and develops the most appropriate research strategies to deliver against critical business objectives and longer-term marketing strategy
Develop, shape and deliver integrated learning plans to identify knowledge gaps and prioritize and address key business issues, including developing annual market research plans in line with annual business plans and strategic plans. Manage the FOSC and Allergy Franchise CBI budgets.
Uses knowledge of key macro trends and leads understanding of consumer, market and competitive landscape to diagnose business performance and address focused business issues and lead innovation; Leads and applies understanding of brand/marketing fundamentals to assess brand health, and assists in category/brand strategies development.
Uses broader range of research tools/resources/processes to assess business issues; Independently and proactively identifies the key business issues/questions and develops the most appropriate research design and analytic plan to address business/ research needs; Evaluates and incorporates new/emerging research tools that provide increased consumer insight and business growth; Acts as an expert in research and questionnaire design and interpretation
Acts as a business partner, not just a market research specialist. Manages complex business issues and helps team set strategic direction. Creates consensus
Integrates knowledge from multiple sources and creates meaningful interpretations and recommendations that address business issues; Interprets and pragmatically translates research learning into feasible business building action steps, and ensures alignment with key business partners. Influences others in the implementation of action steps to drive the business. Demonstrates objectivity in the interpretation of findings and development of recommendations and implications. Guides cross-functional team members to an objective viewpoint.
Fosters ‘strategic thought partner” – empowering vendors to act as extension of CBI team (including, training and proactively bringing new knowledge and ideas to the team); Supervises vendor partners to execute projects; Anticipates and quickly develops contingency plans for complex project issues; Proactively manages priorities across budget lines.
Conduct work in line with CBI principles, drives agility and integrates best practice learning and global standards to ensure ‘best-in-class’ performance and actively contributes to broader CBI initiatives.
Qualifications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
A Minimum 2 years of Sr Manager/Associate Director is required
A minimum of 8+ years overall consumer and shopper insights experience is required
Self Care/OTC Experience preferred
Demonstrates ability to influence cross-functional and upper management to impact decision-making; Willingness to “have an opinion” backed up by insight and analytics and the confidence to influence key stakeholders in meetings and one to one basis
Expert on leading across all CBI global competencies is required
Outstanding communication skills; Ability to think analytically to understand complex or ambiguous problems or issues and communicate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely; Data visualization skills are a must
Be a role model to the team/organization in exhibiting Credo and TAO behavior
Highly strategic business knowledge with the ability to appropriately use judgment and risk-taking
Technical market research and analytical expertise and conversant in a range of quantitative and qualitative ad hoc research techniques and syndicated business analyses
Strong track record of leadership in high performance consumer packaged goods environment
A Bachelor’s degree is required; Post-graduate degree or equivalent in Market Research, Social Sciences or Statistics is preferred
This position requires approximately 20-25% travel international/domestic
