Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Assistant within the University Police Department. Under the supervision of the Investigations Division Commander, the Administrative Assistant provides technical, analytical and administrative support, investigative bureau function and related tasks. The position provides support to the Division’s Office of Emergency Management during management of large scale planned events and unusual occurrence incidents. Specific duties would include: preliminary search and review of security camera footage, gathering and confirming information for employment background investigations and recording logistical information at major University events that require a significant public safety presence.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides administrative and technical assistance to support investigative functions.
Manages the logistics’ timekeeping functions at major planned and unplanned events.
Responds to the activation of the Emergency Operations Center during times of emergencies and requests for crisis assistance and management. Provides intelligence developed through the training and experience required for the position in which analytical assessment and decisions can be made with an objective approach.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
Associate’s degree plus two(2) years of administrative/secretarial experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general investigative and emergency management principles and the requirements for conducting effective emergency field operations.
Ability to function effectively for long periods under stressful conditions despite multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.
Ability to respond to emergency situations during and after regular business hours and on weekend and holidays.
Good communication skills and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Business, Government, or a related field in law enforcement, fire, emergency medical safety or security.
