Part-Time Activity Assistant
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Activity Assistant is to provide recreational activities for residents by assisting in planning, conducting, evaluation, and participating in one on one and group activity programs. Ensures a safe environment for residents.
Responsibilites
Assist in planning fun and enjoyable activities for residents.
Attend and contribute to resident care plan meetings.
Document resident’s attendance and participation in activites.
Investigate resident history by conducting resident interviews.
Tailor one on one activity programs to residents’ individualzed needs.
Provide activities that enhance resident self-esteem, and maintain or improve physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
Participate in quality assurance programs, resident counsel, and/or any other program which seeks to improve the perfromance and accuracy of resident care.
Helps resident maintain their highest level of functioning by presenting appropriate activity programs according to resident’s physical capacity, cognititve ability and interest.
Motivate resident to take an interest in their life and community by investing alternative methods of activities, resient hobbies, and community interest.
Delivers mail, flowers, and othe items to residents in a timely manner and reads mail to residents upon request.
Specific Requirements
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Ability to follow and understand written and oral directions.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 4 feet and be able to push, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 2 feet.
Must be able to speak and write the English languate in an understandable manner.
